Suzuki GSX-S1000 Race announced In France

Suzuki had previously announced plans to withdraw from racing altogether. This was mostly true as the brand came out of the most popular two-wheel racing series, MotoGP. However, the Japanese manufacturer has decided that it will continue its racing exploits at EWC with the highly successful Suzuki Endurance Racing team, which is currently fourth in the 2023 standings.

In the fall of 2022, Suzuki will release a special edition Hayabusa modeled after the famous Paul d'Or endurance race. This time, in the height of summer, Suzuki pulled the wraps off another limited-edition sporting machine. This time, the Japanese manufacturer has released a racing version of the popular GSX-S1000 naked bike. Here, we find a unique road bike inspired by the Suzuki Endurance Racing Team, as well as adding some optional upgrades to give the bike a sportier feel and improve performance.

With the Suzuki GSX-S1000 Race Edition, Suzuki basically took the stock GSX-S1000, dressed it up with goodies that turned it into a very track-ready machine. For starters, its tail is arranged for a sportier silhouette, as well as a full suite of GB Racing engine and crankcase protections. Of course, nothing screams track-ready more than a seat cover, plus red Brembo calipers. To give the bike a little more grunt, the Race Edition also features an Akrapovic sliding system. To top it all off, the Limited Edition Naked Sport comes with a numbered SERT FW plate and a welcome pack with hat and T-shirt.

On the performance side of the equation, nothing really changes, since the Race Edition is essentially a cosmetic upgrade kit, aside from the Akrapovic shoe, which might add two or three ponies. However, it is powered by Suzuki's tried and tested 999cc engine, which is a liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, four-cylinder engine with a maximum output of 152 horsepower.

As for pricing and availability, the Suzuki GSX-S1000 Race Edition is a limited edition exclusive to the French market. The bike retails for €16,999 ($18,468)—€3,500 more than the standard model—with a host of bolt-on accessories and premium paint that commands a premium. For reference, in the US market, the GSX-S1000 retails for $11,299.
