Are you looking for different ways of taking screenshot on android apart from the one common method that everybody is aware of? Are you searching for alternative ways of taking screenshot in android if
your current method is not working anymore? Then search no more as you
have landed on the right page which will provide a comprehensive guide
on the 5 best ways of taking screenshot with android phone.
A Screenshot is an excellent way
of capturing moments on your phone screen, There can be a number of
reasons a screenshot can be helpful:
- Screenshots can be used for sharing information from a webpage, email, chat, etc. to other contacts.
- A screenshot can also be used to record a snapshot of useful information on your smartphone that can be referred to or read later on.
- It can also be used to take a snip from a video playing on your video player or youtube.
- Screenshots are a great way to take a snap of highly interactive moments of the game that you often play on your smartphone.
- It can also be used to capture a section of a photograph from the internet which can later be used as wallpaper on your phone.
Overall taking
screenshots with an android phone is a convenient tool for both
professional and personal use. Let us now discuss how to take
screenshots on an android phone using the 5 easy and efficient ways.
II. Method 1: Taking screenshot on android using the Volume and Power Button.
This is the most commonly used method of taking screenshot in android. It is easy and convenient method to quickly take a snapshot of your mobile screen.
The
process is simple, simultaneously press the Power and Volume Down
buttons (or a Volume Up button in a few smartphones) to take a
screenshot. You need to time it well and both buttons should be pressed
at the same time to take a screenshot. This method also works even when
the phone is locked.
Once
you take a screenshot using this method, you will notice a scroll
option in the bottom left corner. This option can be used in the case
where you want to take a long screenshot of an entire webpage or a chat
conversation. In the below video, I have shown how to take a scrolling
screenshot on an android phone.
Please Note: Taking screenshot in android
with the above method won't work on apps with a protected view which
restricts the phone to take a screenshot, as an example Incognito mode
on Chrome App.
III. Method 2: Taking screenshot with android using a Google Assistant
Google Assistant can be a great help while taking screenshot on android
phone. It can help you perform this task without even touching your
smartphone. This method can be effective when the Volume or Power
buttons are not working on your smartphone.
Step By Step Process:
1) Launch the Google Assistant by following below three ways:
- Say "Ok Google", or
- Press and hold the Homescreen button, or
- Launch the Assistant app from Home screen.

2) Once Google Assistant is on, Try saying "Take a Screenshot" on the screen for which you want to take a snapshot.
3) Assistant will take a screenshot which will automatically be saved in your library.
While
this is a great way to take a screen snip but the only limitation I
found using this method is that it is unable to take a scrolling
screenshot. I have given this as feedback to google as well.
IV. Method 3: Taking screenshot in android using Gestures
You
can also use gestures to take a quick and easy screenshot of your phone
screen. I use gestures every time to take a screenshot and it is also
convenient to use when the power button or volume buttons are not
functional.
Step By Step Process:
1) You can enable gestures by going to Settings and searching for Gestures.

2) Locate and click on Gestures & motions and inside that ensure "3 fingers to take screenshot" is enabled.

3) Now taking screenshot on android
using 3 fingers gestures is possible and you can try it out by simply
swiping down 3 fingers on the screen which you want to screenshot.
Please Note: There
might be a different gesture available on your android phone and it
depends on the firmware installed by the phone manufacturer. I would
recommend going through the gestures & motions options available on
your smartphone to enable taking a screenshot using gestures.
V. Method 4: How to take screenshot on android phone using a Third-Party App
There are a few third-party applications available on the Google Play Store that can help in taking screenshot on android
phone. While I will recommend using this method only when no other
option is available. There are plenty of applications that you can find
on the play store but I would recommend using Assistive Easy Touch.
Step By Step Process:
1) Install the application.

2) Open the app and click on Custom Menu.

3) Now you can customize the menu as per your choice and also include the screenshot option in the panel setting menu.
4)
Once settings are done you can go back to homescreen and start using
the application features. This assistive dot is similar to the one you
might have seen on the iPhone.
5) Now simply go to the screen you want to take a screenshot and click on the assistive dot and select the screenshot option.
6) The app will automatically take the screenshot and ask the user to save it in the gallery.
While
there are some very good third-party apps to use for this purpose, the
only limitation I see while using such apps is the number of ads that
are shown to users makes the user experience a little unpleasant.
Another
drawback of using a third-party app is the amount of user data that it
will collect and how it will be using it for its purpose. You need to
agree to all terms and conditions before you can start using the app.
VI. Method 5: Taking screenshot on android phone with Power Menu
Lastly, taking screenshot with android
is also possible with the Power Menu options available on your android
phone. It might be possible that these options may not be available on
every smartphone, I don't have it on my Oneplus 7T but you may find it
on your phone.
The
process is very simple, Simply press and hold the power button on the
screen you want to take a screenshot on and wait for the Power Menu to
appear. Once the menu appears now you can select the screenshot option
(if available) in the menu and your phone will automatically take the
screenshot.
This
is also a good alternative to taking a screenshot but this option may
or may not be available on every android phone. It depends on the phone
manufacturer whether they have included it as a feature in their phone's
firmware or not.
