Dhoni
was born on July 7, 1981 in Ranchi, Bihar (now in Jharkhand), India. He
began playing cricket at a young age and quickly showed a natural
talent for the sport. He made his debut for the Indian cricket team in
December 2004 and quickly established himself as one of the team's key
players.
In 2007, Dhoni was appointed captain
of the Indian national team, a position he held until 2016. Under his
leadership, India won the 2007 ICC World Twenty20, the 2010 and 2016
Asia Cups, and the 2007-08 Commonwealth Bank Series. In addition, India
also reached the final of the 2007 ICC Cricket World Cup and the 2013
ICC Champions Trophy.
Dhoni is also known for
his aggressive captaincy and his ability to remain calm under pressure.
He has been praised for his ability to lead the team to victory in
high-pressure situations. He was also known for his ability as a
finisher and his aggressive captaincy, his captaincy style is also
referred as ‘Captain Cool’.
Dhoni announced his
retirement from international cricket in August 2020. He is one of the
most successful and most respected cricketers in India, having won
numerous awards and accolades throughout his career.

Dhoni is also known for his love of adventure sports and is a qualified
paratrooper, having completed five parachute training jumps from Indian
Air Force aircraft. He has also been an ambassador for several social
causes, including road safety awareness and organ donation.
Dhoni
made his ODI debut for India in December 2004 against Bangladesh, his
Test debut in December 2005 against Sri Lanka. He was the first Indian
wicketkeeper to effect 150 ODI stumpings and the first captain to win
all three ICC trophies (World T20 in 2007, ODI World Cup in 2011,
Champions Trophy in 2013).
He has also been
honored with several awards and accolades, including the Rajiv Gandhi
Khel Ratna, India's highest honor for achievement in sports, in 2007;
the Padma Shri, India's fourth highest civilian award, in 2009; and the
Padma Bhushan, India's third highest civilian award, in 2018.
Dhoni
is also known for his charity work, he has been associated with several
charity foundations and organizations, including the "MS Dhoni
Charitable Trust", which focuses on providing education and healthcare
to underprivileged children in India.
He is
considered as one of the greatest finishers in limited-overs cricket and
considered as one of the best captain in Indian Cricket history. He
holds several records like most successful captain in Indian Cricket
history, most number of wins as captain, most number of not out innings
in ODI's, most number of stumpings in International cricket, most number
of catches by wicketkeeper in ODI's and many more.
In
addition to his cricketing career, Dhoni is also a successful
businessman and has endorsement deals with several major brands. He is
also a co-owner of the Chennai Super Kings, a team in the Indian Premier
League.
